
deJongh and Mundaca
Recently the St Croix Source published an article regarding Gov. John deJongh Jr. meeting with the new Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for Tax Policy Michael Mundaca. At this meeting Mr. Mundaca agreed to Governor deJongh’s request to establish a process to review residency and income-sourcing rules promulgated under the authority of the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004.
This is great news!
With the EDC Program generating 12% of the Gross Territorial Product, and 17% of tax revenues over the last 8 years, the prosperity of the EDC Program is essential to the U.S. Virgin Islands. If the U.S. Treasury does in fact relax the stiff Residency rules for the EDC Program, it will draw even more businesses into the EDC Program and create more prosperity for the U.S. Virgin islands. Clearwater Consulting Concepts supports Governor deJongh in this effort, and his other efforts, to build the foundation for an economic transformation that will bring decades of benefits to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
